Anzac Day dawn serviceAnzac Day will be commemorated at eight locations across the Redlands on Monday, 25 April.

Commemorations in Cleveland, Redland Bay, North Stradbroke Island, Macleay Island and Russell Island will be hosted by the Returned Services League (RSL), while those in Lamb, Karragarra and Coochiemudlo islands will be organised by local communities.

The following roads will be closed from midnight Sunday 24 April to 1pm Monday 25 April:

  • Shore Street West, from Wynyard Street to Wharf Street
  • Passage Street, from Middle Street to the Kinsail Court turn-off
  • Kinsail Court in its entirety
  • Banana Street, Redland Bay, between Weinam Street and Outridge Street. Access to the Redland Bay Marina and boat ramp is via Meissner Street onto Banana Street

 

CLEVELAND

Organiser:  Redland RSL (Linda Harcourt – 3488 1199)

Dawn Service

  • 5:00AM – Dawn parade Marshalls at RSL Entrance, Passage Street
  • 5:20AM – Dawn parade departs from RSL to New Anzac Centenary Memorial – Kinsail Court
  • 5:30AM – Dawn service commences at Anzac Centenary Memorial – Kinsail Court Park
  • 6:00AM – Dawn service concludes

Morning Service

  • 10:00AM – Main parade Marshalls at West of Cleveland Bowls Club, Shore Street West
  • 10:30AM – Main parade departs from Cleveland Bowls Club for New Anzac Centenary Memorial – Kinsail Court Park
  • 11:00AM – Morning service commences
  • 11:45AM – Morning service concludes

 

COOCHIEMUDLO ISLAND

Organiser:  Russell Jackson (0410 328 066)

Dawn Service

  • 5:00AM – Special ferry service departs to Coochiemudlo Island from the Victoria Point jetty
  • 5:30AM – Commemorative service at the New Memorial – Main Beach, opposite Red Rock Café
  • Gunfire breakfast at Red Rock Cafe after the commemorative service

Morning Service

  • 10:00AM – Main commemorative service at the New Memorial – Main Beach, opposite Red Rock Café

 

KARRAGARRA ISLAND

Organiser:  Karragarra Island Ratepayers and Residents Association (3409 1652)

  • Dusk service at Karragarra Island Barge Ramp

 

LAMB ISLAND

Organiser: Lamb Island Recreation Club (3409 5832)

  • 4:45AM – Dawn service at Cenotaph, adjacent to Lamb Island Recreation Club, Lucas Drive
  • Gunfire breakfast after commemorative service

 

MACLEAY ISLAND

Organiser: Macleay Island RSL (Dusty Rhodes – 0428 7812 148)

  • 5:00AM – Assembly for march on Kate Street
  • 5:15AM –  Veterans march from Kate Street to Cenotaph, Pat’s Park
  • 5:30AM – Dawn service at Cenotaph, Pat’s Park

 

NORTH STRADBROKE ISLAND

Organiser: Stradbroke Island RSL (3409 9318)

Dawn Service

  • 4:45AM – Assembly and march to Cenotaph Butcher Shop to Cenotaph on Welsby Street, Dunwich
  • 5:00AM – Dawn service at Cenotaph, Welsby Street, Dunwich
  • 6:00AM – 7:00AM – Club open for breakfast (Adults $10; children under 12 yrs & under $7.50)

Morning Service

  • 10:30AM – Assemble at Little Ships Club, Yabby Street, Dunwich
  • 10:45AM –  Main march from Little Ships Club, Yabby Street, Dunwich to Cenotaph
  • 11:00AM –  Commemorative service commences at Cenotaph, Welsby Street, Dunwich

 

REDLAND BAY

Organiser: Redland Bay South RSL (John3206 9524

  • 3:30AM – Gunfire breakfast – Gold Coin donation at Redland Bay Community Hall, Weinam Street (near Queensland Police station)
  • 4:45AM – Veterans assemble at Community Hall
  • 4:55AM – Veterans march to Cenotaph at Neville Stafford Park, Banana Street
  • 5:00AM – Commemorative service commences at Cenotaph on Neville Stafford Park, Banana Street
  • Gunfire breakfast to continue after service. Veterans with medals are invited to breakfast at 22 Meissner Street ($5)

 

REDLANDS NORTH MEMORIAL SERVICE (conducted with local Youth and School Student Leaders)

Organiser: Cr Paul Bishop (04788 36286)

  • 7:45AM – Scouts, Guides and BP Guild assemble for service at Wellington Point State High School Assembly Hall
  • 8:00AM – Service begins
  • 8:50AM – Service concludes

 

RUSSELL ISLAND

Organiser:  Russell Island RSL Sub-Branch (3409 1372)

Note:  Cuphea Street has been renamed to ANZAC Parade

Dawn Service

  • 4:30AM – Russell Island RSL Sub-branch at 9-15 Cuphea Street opens for tea and coffee
  • 5:20AM – Assembly at Russel Island Memorial, Anzac Drive
  • 5:30AM – Dawn service commemorations at Russell Island Memorial, Anzac Drive
  • 6:30AM – Gunfire breakfast at Russell Island RSL, Anzac Drive

Morning Service

  • 10:00AM – Assembly for march at corner Cestrum Street & Canaipa Road
  • 10:45AM – March to Cenotaph, Anzac Drive
  • 11:00AM – Main commemorative service at Cenotaph, Anzac Drive
